#52 and #32 again

#52 is to drive across the country for the third time. Check! We completed this on May 3rd - May 8th, in just 6 full driving days! We travelled 3200 miles and averaged 500+ miles per day. We are now living in Maine once again. :) It was a beautiful drive and we drove so much that we didn't sight-see along the way but we so enjoyed the beautiful views along the way.

#32 is to buy a house. We did this earlier this year and then rescended our house purchase in favor of moving to Maine in March 08. Before we hit the road we found a house that we liked and made an offer, sight-unseen (though we toured it via pictures and our agent walked it for us). We entered into a contract for that house on May 5th and toured the home in person on May 9th! The house is great and we are very excited to be moving in on June 16th. Our new house has a pond on the property and we will own half of it. Too fun. I'll post pictures later.

101 in 1001 days [completed items = blue]

1) Develop an organized workflow for my personal and work photos.
2) Learn to make an “Action” in Photoshop. Put my current workflow into “Actions”. {completed 3-30-08}
3) Learn to use the 580EX flash – on and off camera mount.
4) Learn how to utilize Adobe Lightroom and all the many features by reading and practicing the skills taught in Scott Kelby’s Lightroom Book.
5) Attend a Photography Workshop on location (travel and shoot alongside pros).
6) Learn Studio (AB800’s + backdrops + triggers). Read a studio lighting book that I have and acquire lighting equipment. Practice setup and become familiar and confident in the results I can accomplish.
7) Join JSO BIZ or FA Member in ILP by September 2008.
8) Join PPA (Professional Photographer’s Association) in my area. Get involved in some way be it attending a workshop, meeting, or participation in an event/activity.
9) Join the Chamber of Commerce of my hometown for promoting my business and making acquaintances with the community.
10) Set up “Angela Schwartz Photography” email.
11) Sell Canon 30D & 17-85mm lens. {completed 12-18-07}
12) Join NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). {completed 1-12-08}
13) Meet another photographer and go on a shoot together. {completed 3-5-08, posted 3-8-08}
14) Form or join a local photography group. {established 1-22-08}
15) Enter a picture into a photo contest.
16) Have our family photographed professionally.
17) Project 365: Take a Photo every day, post it on a blog with a short write-up. At the end of the year compile a Blurb book (coffee table book). Start Date: Jan, 1 2008. {terminated the project}
18) Print two large canvas-sized photos of each child and hang it in our home.
19) Print and hang my photo works and display them in our house. (this is something I have always wanted to do and currently have nothing hung)
20) Learn to digital oil paint.
21) Read my camera manual front to back! {completed 1/18/08}
22) Buy a macro lens.
23) Buy a P&S camera. {completed 1-21-08}
24) Remember Birthdays – Fill out a calendar of birthdays by January 1, 2008 and send a card so that it arrives on or before their date. Do this for one year! Goal – everyone gets a card and is remembered.
25) Learn to swim freestyle.
26) Grow a garden of flowers (make sure to have hydrangeas and sea roses) and have cut flowers in the house all summer long!
27) Learn to Sea Kayak – take a class or go kayaking in a group and learn the basics and do a kayak trip (it may be an all-day or even an overnight/weekend adventure).
28) Give back to the community: Volunteer my time and talents.
29) Go on a San Juan Harbor Orca Whale Tour in 2008.
30) Exercise: Workout in the gym from January – March 3 days a week for 30 minutes.
31) Participate in a Fun Run with my daughter (1-3 miles) in 2008.
32) Buy a house – and name our home – hang a sign on the house. {IN PROGRESS - Move in June 16, 2008}
33) Get a family dog.
34) Participate in a club with my daughter (i.e. girl scouts, 4-H, or other).
35) Go on a day ride or overnight horseback ride with my daughter.
36) Teach my son the alphabet and their sounds (beginning reading).
37) Teach my son to write the alphabet and his first name.
38) Teach my daughter multiplication, division and fractions by end of 2008.
39) Help my daughter to write and illustrate a children’s book and get it in print (blurb book).
40) Buy my daughter her own camera and begin teaching her photography.
41) Learn how to put together a unit study and make one.
42) Find and join a homeschool support group/club. Be an active member. {completed 1-12-08}
43) Begin swim lessons again for my kids.
44) Help both kids find a new activity, sport, or class. Sign them up.
45) Begin music lessons with my daughter – she wants to learn the violin. {Completed 1-2-2008}
46) Find out about homeschool testing. Contact the local school district.
47) Visit the Statue of Liberty with my family.
48) Visit Glacier National Park, Montana with my family.
49) Visit Mt. St. Helen’s with my family in 2008.
50) Drive coast-to-coast for the third time, arriving in Maine. {completed 5-8-2008}
51) Establish a “family game night” (successfully accomplished after two months/8wks).
52) Host a party at my house.
53) Host a sleepover with a friend or two for my kids.
54) Plan a Christmas Vacation Activity for my family in 2008.
55) Go sledding with my kids.
56) Complete my son’s Baby Photo Book.
57) Assemble the Schooner Kit that hubby gave me for my birthday years ago.
58) Do something I have never done before.
59) I love a good pleasure read but find I read photography text books these days. Read 3 pleasure books just for fun.
60) Contact an old friend that I haven’t been in contact with in many years.
61) Make a new friend and invite them over for dinner.
62) Go on a picnic.
63) Learn to play the cello. Completed with an outdoor recital for family and friends.
64) Buy a complete dining room set.
65) Buy and hang a hammock in our yard (when we have a house).
66) Take rock climbing lessons and then go on a real rock climb adventure.
67) Go sailing.
68) Buy a wooden row boat with ores. (after we have a house)
69) Teach my kids how to row a boat.
70) Decorate the house with Christmas lights (something we have yet to do as a family).
71) Conquer a fear.
72) Stretch everyday for one month.
73) Learn a meditation technique and try it for one month.
74) Go dancing with hubby.
75) Subscribe to a local newspaper.
76) Investigate working for a local newspaper as a photojournalist reporter.
77) Crochet the blue yarn (purchased in Camden, ME) into an afghan for my son.
78) Crochet 1-2 cute beanie hats for my daughter.
79) Try snowmobiling.
80) Help someone make a dream of theirs come true.
81) Eat a fruit-a-day for one month.
82) Travel to a state I have never been to before.
83) Attend a community function.
84) Read the bible with hubby again.
85) Eat an oyster (my first time).
86) Buy a pair of black boots.
87) Take a self-portrait that I really like.

89) Transfer family videos from VHS/recording tapes to archive quality DVD’s.
90) Get my mother to repair her violin and play some music for us. (I have never heard her play.)
91) Do a “ladies night” with my daughter.
92) Bake cookies using a new recipe.
93) Plan a special get-away weekend with hubby and do it.
94) Take up a new hobby.
95) Go to a spa and get a fabulous skin treatment and massage.
96) Dinner by campfire at the beach.
97) Take a first aid class refresher.

99) Go cross-country skiing.
